Conway armed robberies could be linked

Conway police believe the same men could be responsible for two armed robberies that occurred less than a week apart.
CONWAY, AR - Conway Police believe the same men could be responsible for two armed robberies that occurred less than a week apart.

One armed robbery took place at The Corner Pantry on Donaghey Avenue Sunday night. The other occurred last Thursday night at the Gulf gas station on Dave Ward Drive.

"I wasn't afraid," said Corner Pantry Clerk Barry Beckman less than 24-hours after having a gun held to his head, "because I knew if they were going to pull the trigger then that meant that God had my time up."

On surveillance tape from The Corner Pantry, two gunmen are seen walking into the store. They then pointed guns at Beckman and demanded money. Beckman emptied the register, and the armed robbers left with the cash.

"I'm prior military and I've had guns pointed at my face before in training exercises and for real life so it's been, it was just another day for me," Beckman explained.

Police believe the two men seen in the Corner Pantry surveillance footage look like the two men captured on Gulf's surveillance cameras last week. Also, the way they robbed the two stores is similar.

"If these are the same two suspects, again, what's to keep them from not doing it again? Because they're still out on the street," said Conway Police Spokesperson Latresha Woodruff.

Now police hope someone recognizes the men and comes forward. As for Beckman, he's just happy to live another day.

"Very glad that my time ain't up," he said. "I still have things that I want to do in this life. I ain't had that much time to do it so, i'm only 23 years old. I need more time in life."

The owners of The Corner Pantry say they'll pay $500 to anyone who comes forward with information leading to the arrests of the two armed robbers.
