LITTLE ROCK, AR -- This week, demolition crews started tearing down Ray Winder Field, soon to become a hospital parking lot. The structure was built in 1932.

Now retired, former Travs General Manager Bill Valentine went back to the place he used to work for 30 years Friday.

"Ray Winder was way past its time as a professional baseball park," said Valentine.

Some fans had to stop outside the gate just to witness the passing of history.

"We used to hang out and watch the foul balls come over," said fan Brad Carter.

University of Arkansas-Medical Sciences now owns the property.
