RUSSELLVILLE, AR – Pope County fire crews are mopping up a fire along I-40 that started Thursday afternoon near mile marker 89.

The fire burned an area north of the interstate. Fire investigators believe the fire was started by a match or cigarette thrown from a westbound vehicle.

Every Arkansas county except Calhoun and Desha is under a burn ban. The whole state has been categorized as being in Extreme Fire Danger.
