LAKE VILLAGE, Ark. (AP) - A veteran Crossett police officer has been charged with four felonies - including conspiracy to deliver cocaine.
Prosecutors also filed charges of forgery, theft of property and laundering criminal proceeds against 41-year-old Darrell Webb of Crossett.
Investigators say Webb approached a known local drug dealer and asked him to give him cash and to sell cocaine for him in exchange for not pursuing a criminal investigation. The drug dealer then went to police.
Police Chief Tommy Sturgeon says Webb was fired Monday after 13 years with the department.
Webb is being held in the Ashley County jail on $50,000 bail. He did not have an attorney.
