Daughter of murder victim: "I want answers"

The family of Sherwood murder victim Katherine Cleary speaking out tonight after the man charged in her killing, Carter Wilcoxson, admits to the crime.
SHERWOOD, AR - The family of Sherwood murder victim Katherine Cleary speaking out tonight after the man charged in her killing, Carter Wilcoxson, admits to the crime.

Cleary's daughter tells FOX16 News she is still seeking answers.

Sandra Smith says she has justice today, but it’s not enough.

"My brother and I would love to meet him face to face, and just tell us as much as he would tell us,” Smith says. “You know, we just really want to hear the truth. We want to know, we want that closure."

Wilcoxson admitted in court Tuesday to killing Smith's mother, 74-year old Katherine Cleary. Prosecutors say the handyman befriended Cleary while working near her Sherwood home.

Wilcoxson told detectives he kidnapped Cleary early one morning in August 2011, stealing her car, using her credit card to purchase items at a local store and then dumping her body.

"What actually went on that night? How long did he actually have her before she was killed? How much did she go through before she was actually killed. Things like that, my whole family wants to know," Smith says.

Smith adds many people who live in the Sherwood subdivision where her mother lived were concerned even after Carter Wilcoxson was arrested. She says now that he's been found guilty a lot of that fear can be replaced.

"Now that they know for sure he's not going anywhere. I do feel like my neighbors are going to feel better," Smith says.

Sandra plans to feel better too. After her mother’s murder she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She says she watched Wilcoxson enter his guilty pleas just minutes after undergoing chemotherapy.

"The last year and a half has been hard, physically hard on me. But he didn't get the best of me."

And now she hopes as he sits in prison for likely the rest of his life, Wilcoxson will provide answers.

Two other women were charged with using Cleary's credit card and theft as well. But they have not entered pleas yet.
