You love the look of hearty houseplants but your not-so-good with the green thumb? Well fear not, there's a new product that's designed to take the guess work out of watering, it's called the Aqua Globe.

"Houseplants make your home look beautiful, but having to water them all the time can be a big job."

So, do you have pesky plants and finicky flowers that are too much to maintain?

"Primarily what people are looking for is something that is low maintenance and something that will thrive in our conditions," says nursery owner Chuck Walton.

Chuck Walton says he's heard it all before. For the past 23 years he's been helping plants come to life. And if you think your yard requires a regular routine of hard work and watering, "In the nursery today it would take somebody 8 or 9 hours just to water every plant we have," says Walton.

With that kind of resume he's the perfect candidate to put Aqua Globes to the Deal or Dud test.

Commercial says: "The hand blown glass ornament that waters your plants for you."

Once filled with water the glass globes are designed to not only do the watering work for you, but also to balance how much water your plants and flowers need.

"90% of what people do to plants that kill a plant is over watering," says Walton.

Commercial says: "Use a small stick or tool to make a hole in the soil."

After filling the Aqua Globe with water, we created a canal to more easily bury the base of the globe. Insert the device and that's it! The Aqua Globe is designed to water our plant for up to two weeks! And just for fair comparison.

We took two more plants, same species as the first.  We watched them during our test too. Meanwhile we checked in to see how the Aqua Globes are designed to work.

Commercial says: "As soil becomes dry it releases oxygen which in turn releases the exact amount of water your plant needs- you can't over water.. you can't UNDER water- such a simple solution - yet so beautiful."

Ok sounds easy enough. By the end of our first two weeks the fern we watered by hand is starting to brown around the edges. Perhaps we gave it too much water. The Aqua Globe is nearly empty, so we refill and continue our test. Two more fillings and a full month later the results are clear.

The fern we didn't water at all is dry and dead, the fern we cared for by hand is limp and lifeless. But our fern outfitted with an Aqua Globe still looks perfect. Making this product a deal!

As for the cost a set of four Aqua Globes will set you back $14.99 plus $7.95 for shipping and handling. But if you go to Bed Bath and Beyond you can buy a pack of two for just $9.99.
