Death of Little Rock Robbery Victim Shot in June Ruled Homicide

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Police are investigating a new homicide case after a local robbery victim shot in June dies weeks later from complications.

Lawrence Thomas, 39, died July 16th after returning to the hospital the day before for more treatment of three gunshot wounds to the knee.

Police say shortly before 4:00 on the morning of June 30, a wounded Thomas flagged down officers at 12th & Woodrow streets. He told them he had been shot inside his car by a man to whom he was giving a ride who had pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

According to the police report, Thomas had picked up the suspect near 13th & Peyton streets. He told police he struggled with the other man over the gun before he was wounded.

Detectives continue to search for a suspect in the case, described only as a black man about 5'11" tall.
