NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - The legislation to sell part of the historic Big Rock Quarry to condo developers is off the table, for now. Wednesday, developers withdrew their request to purchase 45 acres of land in the Big Rock Quarry in North Little Rock. The space is currently being used as an unofficial park and the North Little Rock city council could have voted on the sale as early as Monday night. In the last two weeks, hundreds of people in opposition to the sale created a movement to get the city council to vote against the sale. North Little Rock Mayor Rick Hays confirmed the option will not go forward for a vote at this time, but the land could still go up for sale at a later date if it is not designated as an official park, first.

sounds like the city council was just listening to it's constituents, for once..If the people really want to it be a real public park, they should look for corporate sponsors to name the park and trails after..That would generate revenue as well.

A park that will generate zero revenue, or development that will get revenue from the original sale, taxes on the land and improvements, fees for utilities................. sounds like a no brainer to me. But leave it to NLR city leaders to screw it up. Get ready LR, there is a developer heading your way.
