LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The ten acres between Sixth and Eighth Streets are pretty much vacant. It's along I-30 and it's so close to the Clinton Presidential Center that you can see the pedestrian bridge.
"Everything is available in downtown Little Rock that we need for an economic development project," said Jerry Jones, chief legal officer at Acxiom.
Jones signed a letter, along with four downtown organization heads, calling for city leaders to consider this vacant area.
Not only for its proximity to downtown, but check this out: A triplex is the only house on the proposed site which would cost much less than moving out 132 homeowners.
"Taking into consideration and balancing out all the competing interests. The needs to be near other universities and access to transportation versus disruption to people's lives," Jones said.
"It's good to know that other people see other areas and that we should look at other areas as opposed to my neighborhood or the other two neighborhoods," said Donna Massey of the We Shall Not Be Moved Coalition.
Massey hopes city leaders will consider the new suggestion. She wants to reiterate the group is not against the tech park. They just don't want to move because of it.
"We don't believe you should put it in a residential area. At that point, it's not going to be positive. It's going to be negative, leave a negative area on the residents who live in that area," Massey said.
