The Siloam Springs Police Department (SSPD) needs help finding the person or people responsible for taking nearly 40 firearms from a local pawn shop.

The department is making this case its top priority, to keep folks in the city safe.

Sergeant Todd Brakeville says in the nine years he's worked on the Siloam Springs Police Force, he's never seen a gun theft of this magnitude.

According to a news release, officers were called to M&M Pawn Monday morning on a burglary report. It's believed the break-in took place in the early morning hours of Sunday. The owner called police after discovering the thefts.

Police say the thieves appeared to have gotten into the shop by breaking a window and removing a protective metal gate.

Once inside, police believe they stole an assortment of about 35 firearms including handguns, shotguns and rifles.

The SSPD would like anyone with information about the burglary to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at (479) 524-4118.

Dan, are you trying to convince us that there are more firearm deaths as hunting accidents than homicides? It is not the guns that are killing people, its the dumbasses and the mentally f'd up people that are killing people.

Another example of the "responsible firearm owners/operators/sellers/dealers" the NRA is always referencing in their propaganda...Know who else falls in that category? VP Cheney (who shot his friend in the face); Mrs. Lanza (shot in her home, by her own weapon, by her deranged son); Former Asst. Director of the State AGFC firing off rounds (while drunker than Cooter Brown) and EVERY SINGLE hunting "accident" in this state. WHEW! Sure will feel safe when I go into a House of God here in Arkansas, knowing all these FINE examples of responsibility are all around me, packing.

Wow! Guns are getting even more powerful. Not only do they make idiots kills people (which the left is always claiming), but now guns are forcing people to steal them from pawn shops.

I partially blame the pawn shop. Why wouldn't they have a decent gun safe?

You wont see these guns at a gun show. These guns are going to the criminal world. Yep, a ban would really help matters.

I'll bet that at least a few of them could be recovered at the GUN SHOW this weekend in Little Rock. The authorities should publish a list of all the firearms that were stolen along with the corresponding serial numbers so that unsuspecting lawful gun buyers won't be sold the stolen firearms. Or.... maybe keeping it all secret benefits who?
