LITTLE ROCK,AR – There have been multiple reports of a scam targeting Entergy Arkansas customers, according to the company.
The con artist will call a customer and tell them their electric bill payment is past due, and that their service will be disconnected within the hour if they don’t pay up.
Then they are directed to transfer funds electronically, sometimes through the “Money Pack” system
The following is a list of reminders from Entergy to help customers to resist falling for the scam:
1. While the company does place courtesy calls to customers to advise them that they are at risk for disconnection, these are recorded calls, not live customer service agents, and they never demand immediate payment.
2. While customers can pay their bill by phone or credit card, it is only through Bill Matrix, a third-party vendor Entergy uses for this purpose.
3. No one should ever give their personal information to strangers.
If the call sounds suspicious, contact Entergy online or call Entergy at 1-800-ENTERGY (1 800 368 3749).
