Experts: Thanksgiving dinner will be more expensive for 2012

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The American Farm Bureau Federation says to make grandma's special dishes this year for Thanksgiving will cost consumers more.

Experts say to feed a family of ten in 1996 costs 31.66. In 2006, the number increased to $38.10. Now in 2012, Arkansans will pay $49.48 to feed their families Thanksgiving dinner.

Managers at Family Market in Shannon Hills say consumers are still buying despite the costs.

"I've gone through about 7 or 8 cases of hams," said meat manager Josh James.

Whatever the costs, most consumers want to keep the focus on what' s important during the holiday.

"We get a chance to go and meet with our families, we just get a chance to commune with each other," said Lewis Thomas.
