FOX16 to launch local morning news program

“Your Breaking News Leader” FOX16 News will expand its current news lineup with Good Day Arkansas, a two-hour local morning show launching Monday, February 4.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - “Your Breaking News Leader” FOX16 News will expand its current news lineup with Good Day Arkansas, a two-hour local morning show launching Monday, February 4.

Good Day Arkansas will be the only local morning show from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. in central Arkansas.

“We are excited to provide our viewers with an alternative to the national morning shows airing on other stations at that time period,” said Mike Vaughn, General Manager of FOX16. We realize some Arkansans don’t wake up early enough for a 5a.m. newscasts, and this will give those viewers a chance to catch up on the morning’s news before they start their day.”

Good Day Arkansas will offer the breaking news and weather coverage viewers have come to expect from FOX16 News, while adding a fun, light twist to the traditional newscast. The show will feature live news coverage, weather and traffic reports, live interviews, special guests, and community highlights. It will launch with hosts Deedra Wilson and Greg Dee.

Engineers are in the process of constructing a new, state-of-the art set for FOX16’s morning and evening broadcasts at FOX16’s new Victory Building studios in downtown Little Rock. During construction, viewers may notice temporary changes in the visual appearance of the broadcast. However, viewers can expect the same content and coverage from well-known personalities like Donna Terrell and Kevin Kelly.

FOX16’s move to the Victory Building creates a combined resource-sharing newsroom with local NBC affiliate KARK. The new venture will allow each station to provide more local coverage of stories than any other station in the market. Local efforts combined with the regional resources of sister stations in Fayetteville, Memphis, Texarkana, and El Dorado creates the largest network of Arkansas news content in the state.

“While we will share some resources, it is important to us that the FOX16 News and KARK4News brands remain unique and distinct from one another. The combined newsroom will give us the ability to cover more local stories, in a more thorough way than ever before,” said KARK-KLRT News Director Austin Kellerman.

FOX16 has always been central Arkansas’ most convenient choice for news, providing local newscasts at times when other stations cannot. FOX16News will refine its newscast lineup to focus on these time periods. Beginning February 4th, FOX16’s news broadcast schedule will comprise of “Good Day Arkansas” from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., a half-hour broadcast of FOX16 News at 5:30 p.m., and an hour-long FOX16 News at 9 p.m.

Other changes to the FOX16 lineup include the hit-show “Two and a Half Men” moving half-an-hour earlier to 10 p.m. along with TMZ taking over the 5 p.m. timeslot.
