CONWAY, AR -- A year after a Conway father and skating rink owner was murdered in his Faulkner County home, family and friends holding a vigil to remember his life and ask for help finding justice.

"He was the type of person that whenever you're in his presence you wouldn't leave there not smiling," said long time friend and pastor Cornell Maltbia who grew up in Billings' skating rink.

He says Billings was always willing to help children in need.

"He was real big on education," Maltbia said.  "He was a former school teacher.  He sponsored many scholarships to college students at our church."

On Oct. 29 of last year, Billings was found dead in his Faulkner County home. He'd been shot in the back of the head. His truck was stolen and later recovered at a Little Rock grocery store.

A year later, there still haven't been any arrests.

Billings' oldest daughter Alicia says the family is holding out hope that her father's killer will be brought to justice

She says the vigil Tuesday night is an effort to keep his picture in the public's eye.

"Just want to kind a get together in remembrance and let people know that it's still ongoing," she said.

Family members have been able to gather $15,000 to offer as a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
