Coach Smith willingly came into a terrible situation created by the misconduct of his predecessor. He took over a terrible situation and I am certain he did the best he could to make lemonade out of lemons. He is also showing a refreshing amount of class being willing to remain with the organization to help with a transition to a successor coach. Coach Smith deserves our gratitude for stepping up to the plate at a difficult time and Mr. long deserves our support for placing more value on integrity than a w-l record. College athletics is supposed to be about defining character, and that's relevant in bad times as well as good. Thank you Coach Smith, thank you Mr. Long and WPS! Joseph Jensen U of A Alumnus

The Good News is this season is finally over. The Bad News is we must start from scratch next season. Jeff Long seems to be wanting to hire the "Homerun" and if he is not careful may hire another "Strikeout" like he did with Patrino. Patrino was/is good coach, but should have come with a "Buyer Beware" tag. Personally I like Charley Strong currently of Louisville and don't understand why his name is not being considered. Check him out. I think you will like him. But we will see who Jeff likes, maybe this coming week.
