Faulkner County Neighbors Don't Believe ExxonMobil's Findings

FAULKNER COUNTY, AR -- A group of Faulkner County neighbors send researchers to the Mayflower oil spill site and come back with different results than ExxonMobil and the state health department.

The Faulkner County Concerned Citizens Advisory Group released their findings Monday in a town hall meeting.

The neighbors say there is oil in Lake Conway, despite claims by the state health department and ExxonMobil that the water is clear of it.

Neighbors came up with other demands for the oil company that they plan to present and follow up on, which include additional environmental and air quality tests.

FOX16 News reached out to ExxonMobil.  Their response is below:

"...water sampling confirms the main body of Lake Conway remains oil-free. The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality continues to monitor water samples. Further assessments also show there is no oil in Palarm Creek, which is located south of Lake Conway. Water data are posted on the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality's website and updated as it becomes available."

"It's not cleaned up even though Mayflower website says cleanup was done on the fifth.  It's not done and it won't be done for a long time," Emily Harris said.
