Fiery tractor trailer accident on I-40

Traffic on Interstate 40 in North Little Rock is moving again. Arkansas State Police say a tanker truck westbound on I-40 at the Crystal Hill exit lost control around 5:30pm.
A major accident in North Little Rock shut down both east and westbound lanes of Interstate 40 Thursday evening.  Arkansas State Police say a tanker truck westbound on I-40 at the Crystal Hill exit lost control around 5:30pm

Firefighters let the tanker burn itself out because that is safer than allowing firefighters to get close to the flames.  Water would also spread the fuel, risking an environmental hazard.

Traffic started moving again along the eastbound lanes just before nine Thursday night.  Police rerouted westbound traffic onto the off ramp to get it moving again shortly after that.

Four people went to the hospital.  One is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses tell FOX16 news a car cut the tanker off in traffic on the interstate causing the accident.  The smoke from the explosion could be seen for miles.
