They spotted the fire at the Southbend United Methodist Church around seven Wednesday morning.
Firefighters say the fire started in the back of the church near the fellowship hall.
They contained the blaze in that area.
While it didn't reach the sanctuary, there may a little damage there. Members said they're just glad their place of worship is not a total loss.
"The Lord got us here, so you might as well worship and fellowship and make the best out of a bad situation," said Wendi Roberts, a member of the church.
Lonoke County Sheriff's investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
