LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Little Rock Zoo has hatched its first penguin chick.
The zoo says penguin parents Skipper and Easy are taking good care of their new arrival. The zoo's staff says the new parents are keeping the chick warm and feeding it a healthy diet of regurgitated fish.
The chick will be off exhibit until it is weaned when it's about 70 days old. The zoo does not yet know whether the chick is male or female.
The zoo says the chick is growing fast and is of normal weight for its age.
The zoo's popular penguin exhibit opened last year and features South African penguins.
