PLAINVIEW, AR - The U.S. Corps of Engineers has begun a drawdown of Blue Mountain Lake near Mount Magazine in an effort to improve aquatic vegetation, make repairs to launch ramps and buoys and complete other projects.

The large number of dead fish on the lake is a result of the low water levels.

The lake was gradually drawn down to 379 feet, which is seven feet below the normal pool elevation, over a period of about a month. Corps officials may decide if the drawdown will continue to 373 feet by October 1.

While the level of the lake is down, the shoreline will be seeded in a mixture of Japanese millet, brown top millet and sorghum Sudan grass.

Valid point. Considering there is a story on here talking about the water loss in ponds and streams from the extreme heat; yes, they should have waited 'till we had some rain, lots of it. Never heard there was another PETA; guess I'm a member of the same one you are.

I don't hug no trees ant the only PETA I know about is people eat taste animals. I'm mad about the fish though. With the very hot conditions looks like they would have waited.
