Major flooding causes problems in several local parks. The rain stranded people in Kanis Park Tuesday night. Wednesday, the west side of Pinnacle Mountain State park was so flooded that park rangers shut it down.
"I've never seen Pinnacle Mountain this bad," said nearby resident Mark Post.
Part of the road leading into Pinnacle Mountain State Park was underwater. You could not get to the playground, which is why Wednesday half the park was closed.
"The creek is seven to eight feet above normal; there are four foot fields," Post said. "This is the worst I've ever seen Pinnacle Mountain. I've lived out here for ten to twelve years now."
Pinnacle Park was not the only park that was flooded. Major flooding at Kanis Park stranded Anthony Talley.
"I guess we got to sit and wait until the water goes down. I'm stuck here," Talley said.
As of Wednesday the water remained. It did go down enough so Anthony and other drivers could drive off. Until all of the water goes down, park rangers say the west side of the park will remain closed.
