Former Little Rock pastor pleads guilty to sexual assault

The former pastor of a Little Rock church has pleaded guilty to fourth degree sexual assault. A 16-year-old boy told investigators the former pastor sexually assaulted him when he was 15 years-old.
LITTLE ROCK, AR – The former pastor of a Little Rock church has pleaded guilty to fourth degree sexual assault. A 16-year-old boy told investigators the former pastor sexually assaulted him when he was 15 years-old.

According to police at the time of his arrest, Shane Montgomery, former pastor of The River Church, admitted to oral sex and fondling the teenager, but denied any other allegations.

Montgomery entered his plea Tuesday morning in front of Judge Barry Sims instead of going before a jury.

Montgomery’s trial was scheduled to begin on Wednesday morning.

Montgomery was sentenced to six years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with five years of that sentence suspended.

Once out of prison, the former pastor must register as a sexual offender.
