LITTLE ROCK, AR – A former Vice President of USA Drug was sentenced to 33 months in prison for mail fraud and money laundering.
Garret Sorenson, 43, will also have to serve three years of supervised release.
By pleading guilty to the two charges, the remaining 31 counts against Sorenson were dismissed, according to the Department of Justice. The DOJ also says charges against Katherine Sorenson and her sister, Shannon Walters, were dismissed by separate agreement.
Starting in 2005, while Sorenson was a VP at USA Drug, he and his wife and Walters formed Multi-Media Management. According to the DOJ, Sorenson used that company to do insert and direct mail advertising for USA Drug, without USA Drug’s knowledge. The DOJ says Sorenson charged for work that was not done and charged inflated service fees.
The Sorensons used their ill-gotten gains to purchase, among other things, a boat, a Jeep, a Rolex watch, and a Chevy Suburban, according to the DOJ.
