Friends of news anchor speak out after attack

Across the board, those who know KATV reporter and anchor Anne Pressley are having a difficult time understanding why anyone would attack her. Police are still trying to find whoever beat her overnight at her Little Rock home and left her in critical condition.
Across the board, those who know KATV reporter and anchor Anne Pressley are having a difficult time understanding why anyone would attack her. Police are still trying to find whoever beat her overnight at her Little Rock home and left her in critical condition Sunday night or early Monday morning.

Dick Flowers lives right next door to Anne Pressly and says she spends a lot of time on the go. Flowers said she is, "very dedicated to her work. But when we did visit with her she was I think a very sweet, pleasant girl."

Flowers says the 26-year-old KATV morning show anchor is a mover and a shaker, excited about her appearance playing Anne Coulter in the Oliver Stone movie W.

"She told me she figured her acting debut, if that's what it was, would end up on the cutting room floor. However we saw W. over the weekend and it didn't. She had her 30 seconds of fame," says Flowers.

The Heights is a close knit neighborhood. In fact, everyone knew what had happened by Monday afternoon. And their concern isn't so much about the safety of the area as about the safety and recovery of Anne Pressly.

Those with the Heights Neighborhood Association say this is an incident the likes of which they've never heard of in the Heights, and everyone is saddened by it.

KATV general manager Dale Nicholson released a statement today saying, "everyone who knows Anne realizes she is a person who simply lights up the room, by just walking in." He went on to write, "I know her viewers will join with her family as well as the KATV family in praying for a speedy recovery for Anne who means so much to all of our staff."

Dick Flowers hopes not only for a recovery but for justice in this attack. "The police have been very professional and I hope they find who did this," he told us.
