LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Gov. Mike Beebe says U.S. and Arkansas flags will be flown at half-staff to honor a Cabot soldier who was killed this month in Afghanistan.
Beebe proclaimed that flags will be flown at half-staff on Saturday to honor Sgt. Jason Swindle.
The Cabot High ROTC held a flag ceremony before school Friday morning, and presented the flag to Swindle's mother.
The Department of Defense says 24-year-old Swindle died on Sept. 20 from injuries suffered when he was hit by enemy small arms fire.
The governor's proclamation says Swindle has a son and another baby on the way.
Swindle was assigned to 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.
