LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Gov. Mike Beebe says U.S. and Arkansas flags will be flown at half-staff to honor a Cabot soldier who was killed this month in Afghanistan.

Beebe proclaimed that flags will be flown at half-staff on Saturday to honor Sgt. Jason Swindle.

The Cabot High ROTC held a flag ceremony before school Friday morning, and presented the flag to Swindle's mother.

The Department of Defense says 24-year-old Swindle died on Sept. 20 from injuries suffered when he was hit by enemy small arms fire.

The governor's proclamation says Swindle has a son and another baby on the way.

Swindle was assigned to 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

We've heard the rumor also. There will be an estimated 500 to 1,000 bikers there tomorrow. Most will be PGR; but there will be others also. I've already spoken to another that says his club and another are going to be there. We will have more than enough to shield the family; but come on out anyway; whether you ride or not. Show this man, his family, and the country what Arkansans are made of - we are there to show Honor and Respect to Sgt. Swindle. As for the trash from Topeka, ignore them. Local media outlets; do you hear me? Ignore them, don't give them the satisfaction of news coverage! Perhaps when they get back to their vehicles, the tires will be flat ( as in Harrison a few years ago, LOL ), and no one in Beebe will help them I'm sure! LOL again! To Sgt. Swindle's family; we WILL be there for you!

I am hearing that the Westboro church out of Witchita is going to protest at the funeral. Scumm . . . Calling all Arkansans - any Kansas vehicle plates need to be very closely scrutinized!

Thank you Sgt. Swindle for your service to our country; and for your sacrifice for our freedom. May you Rest in Peace, and may your family find comfort in our Lord and Savior at this difficult time. I was there yesterday when he came home. The outpouring of support from LRAFB, JPD, the Cabot Fire Dept., Ward Fire Dept, and people all along 167 back to Beebe was incredible. His mother spoke to us; thanking us for what we did, and how it helped the family cope with the loss of their loved one. God's Speed and Heavens Wings Soldier!
