LITTLE ROCK, AR – Governor Mike Beebe has sent a letter to President Obama requesting a major disaster declaration in relation to the Christmas Day Storm.

The sought after declaration would be for Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Lonoke, Perry, Pulaski, and Saline Counties. The governor’s office says the storm caused $9 million worth of damage to those seven counties, $6.75 million of which was for cleanup.

The federal money would go to state and local agencies to help recoup the costs associated with the storm.
