The battle over healthcare reform heats up in Arkansas. Those on both sides of the issue have their sights set on convincing Senator Blanche Lincoln to vote in their favor. One group is going so far as to stage a 24 hour protest

Members of Arkansas's Republican Party take issue with the healthcare reform bill that's on the table.
"It's going to cost the statem it's gonna cost the state big time, $200 million," says Representative John Burris.

While they try to encourage Senator Blanche Lincoln not to vote for the bill, another group is trying to do the opposite. They've staged a protest at her Little Rock office as part of it's "Round the Clock for Reform" effort. "We need a bill that's affordable.  We need a bill that does not tax our plans.  We need a bill that is inclusive and that will cover everybody," says Cadis Collins.

Kelly Arellanes joined them. In 2004 she hit her head after falling from a horse and nearly died. Arellanes says she had to fight her insurance company at every turn to get help with medical bills. After the group left Senator Lincoln's office they ended up at another location where they plan to make phone calls urging the Senator to vote for reform.

The group plans to protest until Friday at noon. They will head to the capitol for another rally. While Republicans are not staging this type of protest, they will continue to put pressure on Senator Lincoln as well.

I got news for ya Arbolesco.....I AM a true patriotic american and have served my country in the military. I AM a 28 year old wife, mother of 3 children, full time worker, and full time student trying to make a better life for myself and my family but one thing I'm not is a supporter of this healthcare bill. He doesn't have the best interest of the people in mind. What he cares about is another way to take control. I do support his country and I stand up for what I believe and what is in the best of interest for my children and the furture generations. As I said in a post previously, those that want healthcare reform and those that stand behind Obama and support his every decision and those that voted him into office, ya'll can fall under the policies he has set and leave the rest of us alone. While things may not be perfect the way they have been, this dang sure isn't the way to fix things. So you go off and enjoy your 6 month waiting list to see a dr, and let the IRS take your money to pay your medical bills, and leave the rest of us to our own lives.

Everyone I know supports this new bill. These patriotic supporters of our president and our elected leaders just don't get the media coverage. Remember, most Americans don't believe a word uttered by Rush, Glen, FOX News, or Sarah. We know they are just entertainers making lots of money. True Americans are FOR our country, and we support Obama!

4littlemom, I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting the insurance companies to raise the premiums intentionally just to pass the Health care bill. You know, sorta like setting someone on fire then setting up a pay by the cup water stand.

Hey Obama, our insurance just went up, takes effect Jan. 2010. So far $1000.00 more a year out of pocket. This is just great! How is this possible when you said it would go up if nothing was done. Oh I see you let that slip so all the insurance groups can get ahead start on jumping up prem's. Just like on the credit card stuff before all the new laws go into effect. Gives them time to stick it to the people before, right then add a little when it's over. Now if it does we still have to pay because your dreaming if you think you can do all this and it not cost more. Stop trying to make a name for yourself. This is not the change in health care people wanted.
