Authorities are still searching for a man they say drove an SUV with a fake license tag and then led officers on a high speed chase.  Search dogs and several police agencies work together -- combing the woods -- the Saline River, even an open field Wednesday afternoon.

The multi-agency pursuit got into full swing near the Saline County fairgrounds where authorities say the suspects abandoned their SUV and took off after speeding away from troopers on I-30.

“They are looking for something...they're walking and looking,” witness Chase Bufford noticed as he drove towards his home.

State police say just after 1:00 pm -- two people sped off from a trooper when he pulled over their SUV in Hot Spring County. Officers pursued them into Saline County when the suspects ditched the SUV and ran.

”There were probably about 15 police cars,” Carla Shelnutt noticed.

Witnesses couldn't help but notice the commotion.

"They were going through the field trying to find someone,” Shelnutt said.

Officers found one of the suspects near the abandoned SUV and took her into custody. As they searched for the other person, officers also searched the brown Durango for clues.

"I hope they catch him because there are a lot of families here and on the other side of the freeway...I hope for their safety they catch the people,” Shelnutt added.

Highway police, state police, Saline deputies, and Haskell police all worked together looking for the suspects. Authorities will continue their search until the find the second suspect.
