Higher unemployment numbers and a lower consumer confidence could mean bad news for the holiday shopping season. The experts, however, can't seem to agree; some expect sales to be down, some say up and others say flat.
Despite the projections, the Christmas holiday shopping season at Park Plaza mall looks like it will be a good one. "When I have been out shopping I haven't seen as many people out shopping but I am noticing sales more," says Jennifer Waters.
The folks at Dillard's realize the economy is bad and have tried to adjust accordingly. One retailer confident about holiday sales is Kielh's, a New York based skin and hair care company. When others are closing down they're opening new counters like the one in Dillard's.
Retailers all over are planning to put out the best values they have from now through the holiday season in hopes of attracting more customers.
