Holly Brown is Little Rock School District's Teacher of the Year

Third grade teacher at Terry Elementary will represent the district in the Arkansas Teacher of the Year competition.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Little Rock School District (LRSD) has selected its teacher of the year.

The honor goes to Holly Brown, a third grade teacher at Terry Elementary.

As the Marian G. Lacey* Award Winner, Brown receives a Dell Latitude 10 Tablet, $1,000 cash and a crystal trophy.

Brown picked up her trophy Monday night during a Crystal Awards Ceremony held at the Embassy Suites that kicked off the annual Teacher Appreciation Week for the district.

Elementary, middle and high school level winners are: Mary Anne Struthers, Williams Magnet Elementary; Kasey Miller Neal, Mann Magnet Middle School; and Ryan Parson, Parkview Magnet High School. Elementary, middle and high school level winners received $500 and a crystal trophy.

Brown, as the overall winner, will represent the district at the state level in the Arkansas Teacher of the Year competition.

Each year, LRSD honors outstanding educators with the Crystal Awards Ceremony. Teachers are nominated by their peers and then reviewed by a selection committee. The committee selects one outstanding teacher from each elementary school, two from each middle school and three from each high school. The level winners and the overall winner are selected from these groups.

*The award is named after Dr. Marian Lacey, a long time LRSD educator and principal.
