Hot Springs Home to World's Shortest Parade
In Garland County, an estimated 15 to 20-thousand people celebrating Saint Patrick's Day lined up in Hot Springs Monday night for what organizers call the First Ever 5th Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade .The Discovery Channel's Mike Rowe, from the show Dirty Jobs, was the celebrity grand marshal. The celebration kicked off with the traditional blarney stone kissing contest, bringing out all kinds of seductive styles. After the winner is crowned with a crisp 100 dollar bils, we go in search of celebrity grand marshal Mike Rowe. We find him on his throne. “They said I could pick any float I want and I went with this one on account it's a toilet,” explained Rowe.Organizers asked Rowe to be in the World's Shortest Parade after a Dirty Jobs episode cleaning up after the Rose Bowl Parade."It can't start until they hit the green line, so there's no dancing, no music, nothing. Once they hit the green line, then they can perform," explains Dick Antoine, who describes himself as the world’s tallest leprechaun."We are the Hot Spring Village Players and we are representing Patty O'Furniture and Paddy Cake and a lovely bride and groom," says Sandy Johansen. And with much fanfare, the 98-foot long parade gets underway complete with the host of TV's Dirty Jobs riding a toilet pulled by a tractor.
