HOT SPRINGS, AR -- The Hot Springs National Park is closed until further notice.
It's all a result of the government shutdown.
Park employees placed barricades in front of entrances to the attractions. Even access to the natural spring station is closed off.
Thirty-eight park employees are being furloughed until Congress agrees on a budget.
The closing is disheartening for the workers.
"I'm waiting anxiously as all employees at the Hot Springs National Park to return to work as soon as possible so we can serve the American public, which is what our duty is," said Josie Hernandez, superintendent of the Hot Springs National Park.
Only a few rangers and maintenance workers will remain on the site, strictly for patrol and upkeep.
