Yes, Butch is a fine example of how to turn your life around. From what I could find on the 'net, without a lot of time involved; the recidivism rate in AR is around 40 percent for males. I guess that means 60 percent don't get into trouble again, or don't get caught. The majority of non violent and non sex offenders should be given a 2nd chance; the 40 percent - lock 'em up for good instead of the revolving door policy. And what "loophole" allowed a predator back on the streets after serving only 3 years? What a load of manure!

can't reform sicko child molesters and rapists..they should be executed and/or put in with the other prisoners and let them do the "reforming". They sure as hell shouldn't be able to be on parole. Violent offenders should never be allowed parole.

I respect Butch54 also. I have read many posts by him over the past few years and he normally offers comments from his experience, which we can all learn from. Keep up the good work Butch54.

Butch, I respect the fact that you have found a better way after being released from prison and after completing the terms of your parole. I'm glad you were able to do so. But, you fall into a very small percentage of those that do not repeat. You are correct in the fact that kids need parenting. However, when the parents themselves are nothing more than an average thief, drug dealer/user, running around robbing places, etc., then the parenting skills are thrown out the window.

@me I completed my parole around ten years ago. Not even a traffic ticket after release. I'm tired of blaming the system for everything. Through research and a quest for knowledge of what was happening I'm going to other problems for the blame. To many single parent homes. Some of those the parent working two jobs to make ends meet. Makes no time for basic parenting. Boys without a male figure in their lives. No man training. I think things would turn around slowly if we worked on those areas. With a few others. This was a great change in our laws today. Children and parents won this one. I don't like anyone that hurts children. Or the ladies either.

"They are let out before they are reformed". The prison does not reform them, or any criminal. There are way to many repeat offenders, and not just sex offenders. Abolish the parole system, make sentences more harsh and make prison a living hell. Its past time to change this.
