Traffic was flowing smoothly again on I-40 in Lonoke County Tuesday night after a pileup involving several 18 wheelers closed the eastbound lane for an hour and a half.
Traffic was flowing smoothly again on I-40 in Lonoke County Tuesday night after a pileup involving several 18 wheelers. It happened in the eastbound lane between Carlisle and Lonoke closing the lane down from around 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. or so.

Arkansas state police say 1 big rig started to swerve causing a chain reaction of collisions involving 5 tractor trailer rigs and 1 pickup truck. Paramedics took the pickup driver to the hospital with minor injuries.

All of the trucks were cleared except one tractor trailer that flipped over on its side. Police said crews would move the truck Wednesday.

Authorities say the ground was warm so they don't think weather was a major factor but they're still investigating. As of Tuesday night, state police hadn't cited anyone in the accident.
