LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's relationship with a Hot Springs attorney throws uncertainty into a bid for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination that his campaign previously suggested was his to lose.
A day after McDaniel admitted to a relationship with Hot Springs lawyer Andrea L. Davis, his campaign offered few details Wednesday about the duration or nature of their contact.
McDaniel's name surfaced in a custody dispute between Davis and her ex-husband. The ex-husband alleged Davis and McDaniel had a sexual affair; McDaniel called it an "inappropriate" relationship.
Davis represented parents who successfully challenged Arkansas' school choice law while McDaniel's office represented the state.
McDaniel is the only announced candidate for governor in 2014. His campaign suggested last week that nternal polls indicated McDaniel would likely win the Democratic nomination.
