Tuesday marks the nine month anniversary of the day Beau Ramsey went missing. Authorities believe his remains were found Monday in Grant County. But as the Ramsey missing case closes, the investigation into what caused his death begins with police piecing together Beau's final moments. FOX 16 exclusively obtained Ramsey's cell phone records and the answer to the mystery may all lie in the final calls he placed.
Just a few days after Beau Ramsey's disappearance his motorcycle was found with the keys still in the ignition just off of Highway 35 near the Saline-Grant County line early Monday. Police had a break in the case with bones found in the woods just three miles from where his bike was left. Police feel certain they have found Beau. His mother Dee Tucker says she's relieved and saddened by the news. “I was thinking at last I found my son, I found him. I made a promise the day I found his motor cycle in the woods, that I would not give up, until we found him," says Dee Tucker. Sheriff Mask says their efforts were on finding Beau, but now they believe they have so their focus will now shift to finding out what happened to him and to do that they are looking at the days leading up to his disappearance. Beau left his job around 10AM. Later at about 1:30PM he was seen at Wal-Mart. Then at 4PM he was spotted by a woman on Highway 35, who told police he acted nervous. She was the last person to see him alive.
Now Beau's cell phone records are being scrutinized. On August 16th, 9 calls were made from beau's cell phone. On August 17th the day he was reported missing, 21 calls were made and two were made the next day. Some of the calls were made to Jon Thibault, Beau's childhood friend. In an exclusive interview with FOX 16 in February, Thibault said Beau may have been involved in meth use and although he was the last person to talk to Beau he claimed he had no idea what happened to him. “I have no idea what happened to him no I didn't have anything to do with with his disappearance”, said Jon Thibault. Mask says investigators are looking to speak to Thibault but he's not talking and they also want to speak to a host of others who may have some information on what led to beau's disappearance.
“We got some folks we need to interview there's been a lot of rumors most rumors we looked into have not panned out,” says Saline County Sheriff Phil Mask. Mask says the autopsy results will be a big clue as to how Beau died but they'll treat this as a homicide until they find information that suggests otherwise.
Investigators have not named any suspects. Meanwhile, we should point out that, FOX 16 did receive a subpoena from the Saline County prosecutor's office the day after we aired our exclusive interview with Jon Thibault. Under court order, a copy of our videotape was provided.
