PINE BLUFF, AR – The Bibb County, Georgia, School district lists Brenda Davis-Jones, as one of the “The New Administrators for the 2012-2013 School Year”. The Georgia school district’s district website says “Get to know the new administrators for the upcoming 2012 - 2013 school year”, has her in the position of campus police chief. The situation is raising many questions and officials are scrambling for answers.

Pine Bluff Police Public Information Officer Jo Ann Bates was shocked to hear today that Chief Brenda Davis-Jones might be leaving Arkansas behind for Georgia. A statement from the department is expected but not yet received.

When contacted by Fox16 News, Mayor Carl Redus said it is his understanding Police Chief Brenda Davis-Jones has only been recommended for the job.

Georgia school district website posting dated July 22, 2012, indicates Pine Bluff Police Chief Brenda Davis-Jones was recommended for the campus police chief position in a meeting held July 19. It lists her as one of the administrators to get to know for the 2012-2013 school year.

This is how the Georgia school district described the selection process:
“The position of Campus Police Chief was advertised on the Bibb County School District's website starting May 2, 2012. Fifteen (15) candidates applied for the position. The selection process included review of applications, screening interviews, and interviews with a panel of district personnel and public safety supervisors and officers.”

Repeated requests to talk to Chief Brenda Davis-Jones have gone unanswered. Mayor Carl Redus said he would have her get in touch with us but we are yet to hear from her.

Chief Jones is not the root of the problem of the crime in Pine Bluff so unfortunately a new chief will not be the solution. We need to stop being so quick to form opinions based on politics & tabloid antics! Pine Bluff would be a much bettter place if we stopped playing the blame game, look within ourselves for the solution then work with those who are in power to improve this city!

Not familiar with Pine Bluff politics; but hearing of all the crime, think I'd rather be a campus police chief instead of the Pine Bluff police chief. Just sayin'.
