Jackson Co. Jail Escapee's Widow Extradited to AR

A woman charged with helping her husband and another man escape from the Jackson County Jail last week is behind bars.
NEWPORT, AR -- A woman charged with helping her husband and another man escape from the Jackson County Jail last week is behind bars.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) says 28-year-old Jessica Dawn Mitchell, of Bald Knob, was extradited from Howell County, Mo. on Friday.

Mitchell is charged with first-degree escape, hindering apprehension and assisting in or furnishing articles or implement for escape, all in connection to the escape of her husband, Steven Mitchell, and Steven reed from the Jackson County Jail on July 29.

JCSO says Mitchell is currently in the Jackson County Jail with a $200,000 bond.

Steven Reed was taken into custody on July 29.

Steven Mitchell was killed after crashing his vehicle during a high-speed pursuit with police from Mountain View, Mo on July 30.
