NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Tuesday, North Little Rock will elect a new mayor for the first time in 24 years.

Former State Representative Tracy Steele and NLR City Administrator Joe Smith both qualified for the runoff election when neither secured 50-percent of the vote plus one three weeks ago.

“I’m the most experienced, and I’m the only one in the race that has any experience whatsoever in management and municipal management, so I can continue all the great things that we’ve done in the last 20 years and make even better things happen in the next four,” says Smith.

"If you want to see open and transparent government here in North Little Rock, if you want to see more economic development, if you want to see better public safety, then we want you to go out and vote,” says Steele.

The Steele and Smith campaigns will work the phones at their campaign headquarters until the polls close Tuesday night trying to get people to get out and vote.

“Your vote makes a difference. This will be a close election. And, in a runoff, every vote is even bigger than in a general election, so every vote will count big,” says Steele.

“This race is gonna be close enough that every vote is gonna count. so, I encourage, especially all of my supporters, to remember that you’ve got til 7:30 tonight to get out, exercise your rights and keep North Little Rock moving forward,” says Smith.

Again, you can vote up until 7:30 at your assigned polling place.
