WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) — A judge has scheduled a hearing in a lawsuit filed by the mother of one of three Cub Scouts killed in 1993 in West Memphis.

Pam Hicks filed the civil suit in hopes of viewing evidence in the slaying of her son, 8-year-old Stevie Branch, and his friends, Michael Moore and Christopher Byers.

Hicks argues that police and prosecutors are violating the state's Freedom of Information Act by not allowing her to examine items from the case, including her son's bicycle and clothing. The Jonesboro Sun reports that Circuit Court Judge Victor Hill will consider Hicks' request at 10 a.m. on Oct. 24.

Prosecutor Scott Ellington has said he's willing to let Hicks view the bicycle and clothing but that he won't release all investigative materials.

mypeaceofmind, this has no bearing on what I think of the actual case of this ordeal. My statement deals strictly with the assinine efforts on the case. This has been in the news for over 20 years, and they are no closer to knowing the truth now than they were then. To "seek justice" as you put it, is a lost hope at this point. Any evidence in this case is more tainted than ever before. There will never be true justice in this.

The world is coming to an end! I agree with Dude on something! The law did get it wrong; and none of them have a pair big enough to admit it. They were pressured into finding someone fast; they found 3 kids that were "different", and made the one that was "challanged" upstairs to "confess". Now, we are back to normal - I believe in the Risen Christ, and the Word of God; there is a Hell, and it's not here on earth; at least not where we can see it with our mortal eyes. I have to admit one thing though Dude; sometimes it does seem like it; but it's nothing compared to what the Word says it's going to be like.

it is my opinion that several of the people that comment on these articles are not interested in justice or whats right or wrong........... they just like to comment......I do wish the murdered childrens parents could find out exactly who did this and why. it might give them a little relief and closure. if it had been my child i would want to know even if they did not pay for it... law enforcement got this all wrong from the start and nobody in Arkansas law enforcement will ever live up to the fact they got it wrong..... so the murder walks and i don't believe they will pay in the afterlife either....hell is right here on earth....we are there already........

I am with itsjustme, SICK of hearing about these thugs and this case and certainly tired of the tax money we have wasted on all of it.

"...he won't release all investigative materials". Sounds like a cover up to me. I wonder what the judge is hiding? The truth? There was DNA evidence collected at the scene; but none of it belonged to the WM3. The police had 3 other leads; they did not follow up on some, evidence was "lost" in another; what are they hiding? I agree with you; but I sure would like to know who the real scumbag was that killed these 3 young boys. Like Janie Ward, I guess we'll never know. But God knows. And He knows who covered up what in both cases; hope they all enjoy Judgment Day.

Is this circus back in the news again? I'm sick of hearing about this debacle.
