LITTLE ROCK, AR-- 12 people of Pulaski County will now decide the fate of Steven Russell Junior. Russell is on trial for capital murder.

Prosecutors say Russell shot his girlfriend in cold-blooded murder back in November 2009, at a North Little Rock apartment complex.

Today, the prosecution told the court Russell killed Owens because she wanted to leave him after an abusive relationship. Attorneys say Russell shot Owens four times. Three bullets went to her head and the remaining shot to her neck.

But defense attorneys say Russell suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He went to Iraq in 2003 and lawyers say the terrifying scenes of war led to his actions.

His attorneys say it is clear Russell suffers from a mental disease and his behaviors exemplify all the symptoms.

The jury will return to the Pulaski County Courthouse Friday morning at 9.

There was 100,000's of people over in Iraq and Afghanistan, you dont see all of them going around and killing people do ya? This PTSD is just another term for mentally ill and people are trying to use it to defend the stupid things they do. Some people may actually have it, but I am almost certain the percentage is very low. This guy should fry for his actions.

travelor I understand you're point. But also understand how these kind of things happen... I see and hear a lot of these yong gurls & wemon. They all seem to want a badboy yaknow becaus their more fun. Next thing you know he's slapping her around & beating on her... I guess thats more fun too. The truth is most bring it on their self by getting with a looser that would treat them like that to begain with. I've seen guys and gals starting that type of behavure long befor marrige even was a part of the plan. You know if that jerk isnt treating you write when you're dateing than it sure as heck isnt gonna get any better after he has papers on you. Ladies learn to do a better job of picking you're man. If he's mean to you while you're dateing than drop em like a hot potato... If he is and you dont.... Than you're asking for what you get.. You can't blame anyone but you're self. If he's a jerk he's just a jerk. You're not gonna change that just becaus you let him have his way. As far as the guy that killed his wife in coldblood I think they aught to fry his a$$. Theirs thousands of other veterans out there with the same type of problems and their not killing inicent people. I figure he knew exactly what he was doing and he's no better than any other murderer.

Why do we have all this man on woman violence? There are women in this great country who live every day of their life in fear for their life, their children's life or physical abuse at the end of every day. They feel trapped because they know the court restraining orders don't work. They can't make it financially on their own. They try to cover up the bruises at work and pretend everything is OK returning home with their meager check to pay the bills and keep the family going. They get up at 5 am come home at 6 pm to now start their second job cooking the dinner, doing the home work and trying to come up with clean clothes to do it all over again the next day. Their only reward many times is verbal and physical abuse from their erstwhile husband who finally returns home from his nightly trip to Stuckey's Bar where he spends his pay check. And now we have a warrior with PTSD who is so threathened by his wife that he arms himself with a pistol and shoots her in cold blood emptying almost a whole clip into her body. What you don't know is the living hell she endured in the months leading up to the end of her life. Where does it end?
