In a FOX16 follow-up, a Little Rock police officer resigns after being investigated for attempted theft on the job.

Officer Benny Dandy was placed on paid leave two months ago for what's happening in a surveillance video.

It's taken from store cameras September 24 at a Stroman’s rent to own business on I-30.  It shows Dandy, 28, carrying a boxed new laptop through a room and attempting to walk out the door of the business.  After the door is locked the video shows the officer placing the computer down in another room.

A criminal review is still on-going at the Pulaski County prosecutors office.  Before he resigned, Dandy earned over $6500 in taxpayer dollars while on paid leave.

He's only resigning because he got caught on video. If the store owner had accused him without the video, the cop would have denied it and would have gone back to work. At most he would have received two weeks paid leave during an 'investigation' that would have found the cop innocent after his buddies 'pressured' the store owner to take back the complaint. Policemen need to be held to a higher standard and receive a harsher punishment when they do wrong.
