LRSD approves anti bullying program

The Little Rock School Board voted unanimously to implement a new program to combat bullying.
The Little Rock School Board voted unanimously to implement a new program to combat bullying.

The board says the Bully Proofing Schools curriculum is just a framework to start adopting, with a 13 member board advisory committee. The committee will be made up of several different community groups, including students in the district to help give input on developing the program.

Parents, teachers, and staff packed the board meeting and voiced their concerns about bullying in the district.

The goal is to keep the anti bullying program flexible, because the current framework is just a starting point.

The new anti-bullying program goes into effect in January.

The school board is also planning to add more security cameras and guards at every school to help monitor students and decrease the opportunity for bullying.

The Bully Proofing Schools curriculum is a pre-K through 12 lesson plan that outlines what the definition of bullying is, how it should be reported, and how bullies should be disciplined at school.
