With the threat of winter weather school districts are monitoring the situation and getting ready to make the call on whether school will be canceled or not on Friday.

The Little Rock School District plans to use a new tool to inform students and parents in advance of a snow day.  The School district is using an automated phone system to let parents and students know their decision.

Last snow day this message went out:
"Attention parents, we will be closed due to inclement weather, please check the Little Rock School District website for further updates, thank you."

Armed with information on what the roads are like, Superintendent Dr. Linda Watson will make the call on whether or not schools are closed as close to 6am as possible.

If you don’t get a phone call school is still in session.
