Man Leads Police on Chase after Kidnapping Mother

When deputies responded to the home, Carlton Johnston drove away with his mother in the car, leading law enforcement on a chase on Chicot Road along the Saline and Pulaski County lines.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A man is in custody after a long chase through Saline and Pulaski Counties.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), the incident began when a woman reported being held captive by her son at her home.

When deputies responded to the home, Carlton Johnston drove away with his mother in the car, leading law enforcement on a chase on Chicot Road along the Saline and Pulaski County lines.

Johnston reportedly continued to drive, leading Saline County deputies and Little Rock police officers on a chase for about 45 minutes on Interstates, 30, 630 and 40, and even called 911 at one point asking to be left alone, according to SCSO.

The chase finally came to an end in the 3100 block of Seventh Street near Johnson, but not before the suspect damaged multiple law enforcement vehicles.

Johnston reportedly had a warrant for his arrest after leaving a medical facility.

SCSO officials have taken Johnston into custody, and he faces multiple charges, including kidnapping and felony fleeing.
