LONSDALE, AR – Crews spend their second full day searching the woods near Lonsdale in Garland County, looking for missing 25-year-old Roy Smith.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Department says Smith was last seen riding a 4-wheeler with his friends on July 27th. However, a missing persons report wasn’t filed until 9 days later, leaving search crews without any solid leads.

In addition to the late start, the sheriff’s department says conflicting reports from witnesses are not helping either.

Sheriff’s deputies say Smith’s mother filed the report when she learned her son was no longer with his girlfriend. It is not know why his girlfriend and the friends who when 4-wheeleing with Smith did not report anything.

The search will continue Wednesday. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Smith, please call the Garland County Sheriff's Office at 501-622-3660.

Fox16 should do a follow story interviewing the girlfriend and showing location of where his body was found. My hunch is that it will not be in vicinity of where she claimed he road into the woods. Two days of searching with dogs would of picked up a scent and tracked within a defined radius unless it was a week later and that disappeared. If a person has been missing for longer than 7 days, there should not be a waiting period to file a report. Arkansas may need a state law to regulate if this is not the case as this was wrong not to file a report. Law enforcement will subpoena cell phone records and create a timeline of events. I believe Roy had no idea what was going on and was ambushed. Was there a love triangle which may be the motive in this case. What happened to his car and where is it now? Jessica is an integral part of solving this homicide. The wheels of justice are in motion for this victim's family. My prayers go out to this family!

my aunt said he spent a couple hrs with her @ her job on fri 27 july.the girlfriend said the last time she saw him was on sun 29 july.and the girlfriend called her the following sat aug 4. and told her he was missing,my aunt went that day 2 file a missing persons report she first went 2 malvern and they told her that because it happened n hot springs she would have 2go there and file the report.so she goes there and tells them hes missing and how long its been and they tell her she has 2 wait another 24 hrs 2 file the report because thats there policy,u have 2 wait 24 hrs after u go 2 report it the frist time, appartently no matter how many days a person is already missing.who really knows if he was even n that area that day,i think she just keeps telling different tails 2 keep the heat off of her,i think whatever has happened 2 him she had a hand n it??shes neck deep n it!!! i mean she had 7 days before she told anyone he was missing,if hes gone 100+ degree weather, wild animals, busards, and anything else could have got him n those days before she said he was missing, and lord shes told that someone came and took his car during this time, and his car was @ her mothers house, now supposedly his cars not there anymore but she failed 2 tell the cops that, she also told a story about him texting & calling her that following tue 31 july that was a lie 2,i dont understand y there not interrogating her trying 2 find out the truth and shes trying 2 make look like other stuff 2,she just keeps lying.the frist time i heard the story i knew it was a pack of lies none of it made sense,u could drive a bus through the holes n her story.i think she has done something 2 him? i think they r wasteing there time searching were they r, because i dont believe hes out there n that area.P.S she dont want the family harressing her with questions!! THEN SHE SHOULD HAVE NOT WAITED 7 DAYS 2 TELL HIS MOM HE WAS MISSING,THERE JUST TRYING 2 UNDERSTAND WHAT HAS HAPPENED 2 HIM,PLEASE TELL US THE TRUTH

Here's a clue for those out there searching. LOOK UP If you don't see buzzards circling you are in the wrong place. Unless the coyoes drug his body off, if he is dead and then look for the BUZZARDS elsewhere circling. Not rocket science people. It's been over 100 degrees almost everyday since he went missing.

The friends and girlfriend should be brought in for questioning and possibly arrested.

It could be fishy. What I would wonder is why his friends would wait so long. The girlfriend might be mad if he had left so I could her not saying anything out of being hurt because he left her. Who knows. Hope they get it worked out. Nice enough looking kid.
