MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas authorities are looking for a man for questioning about the theft of five horses from the stables of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia in November.
Four of the horses were found malnourished and dehydrated in McCurtain County, Okla. The fifth was found dead in the southeastern Oklahoma county.
SAU police Sgt. Donald Wray told the Texarkana Gazette that authorities want to talk with 40-year-old William Hamilton about the case. Wray says Hamilton is known as both Billy Hamilton and Billy Mitchell and is well-known in southwestern Arkansas and northeastern Texas.
Nineteen-year-old SAU rodeo team member Jaci Jackson faces six felony charges in Columbia County in connection to the theft of the horses and has pleaded not guilty. Jackson also faces animal cruelty and other charges in Oklahoma.
