Felon escapee Rodney Adkins, 36, is back in custody at Arkansas' super maximum state prison. Police received a tip from an informant, leading officers to Adkins early Monday morning in Pulaski County.

Detectives say Adkins criss-crossed Hot Spring and Saline county too. He ended up in Pulaski County. But after running since Wednesday, the police finally caught up to him Monday morning.

A five day hunt for escapee Rodney Adkins ended early Monday morning in woods off I-530 and Pratt Road. And not far from neighborhoods.

"I had no idea, wow that's kind of scary," says Billie Burroughs.

Neighbors were in the dark about how close Adkins got and that officers caught him.

"I didn't know until you told me. Great, a lot better, relieved," says Peggy Morgan after learning Adkins was arrested.

Police are relieved too. After running away from the jail Wednesday, Saline County detectives say new information shows Adkins may have hitched a ride on a train in Hot Spring County and hurt himself jumping off in Saline County. Then Sunday night an informant tipped detectives someone dropped Adkins off in woods in southern Pulaski County.

Acting on that information, the Arkansas Department of Corrections sent dogs into the woods. Injured and tired, Adkins came out without a fight.

FOX16 News also learned Adkins' brother lives less than a mile from where he was caught. We wanted to know more, but his brother told us to leave or he'd call the police, so we did.

"You never know what someone might do if they're running and they think they might get caught," says Peggy Morgan.

Now that he's caught, police plan to find out who helped him while he ran.

State police say they are working to see if anyone aided him or kept him from being caught. Sources close to the investigation tell FOX16 News charges will be filed & that arrests are likely in the coming days.

Rodney Adkins is now housed at the Varner Supermax Unit. He was housed in just a medium security facility before he escaped from the Hot Spring County Jail. Adkins was serving a 45-year prison sentence for numerous theft and assault felonies.
