The Maumelle peeping tom strikes again, and police say this time homeowners didn't call officers fast enough.  Tuesday night just before eleven, the peeping tom made the ninth appearance police know about.  The problem is that the couple who saw him this time waited five minutes before calling police who say every second counts.

"Five minutes is a pretty good head start," says Maumelle Police Chief Sam Williams.

That's all it took for the suspect to get away from police Tuesday night.  "All of the officers in Maumelle, I promise you, are taking this personally.  We're wanting to catch him," says Williams.

Virginia Helweg has a different goal.  "We just try to kind of annoy him because he annoys us," she says.

She is doing what she can to keep him away.  Helweg keeps flood lights near her home on all night.  "Those go all the way up to the woods," she explains.

One of Helweg's friends passed out flyers warning neighbors after the peeping tom went right up to her patio door and tried opening it.  "Fortunately her husband was home, and she slammed the door and locked it.  That is aggressive behavior and that is frightening," adds Helweg.

So far, the suspect is only targeting homes backing up to the golf course.

The police chief tells FOX16 he wouldn't be surprised if more victims are out there.  "The key is as soon as you hear, sense or think something, call us.  Call 911 immediately."

Helweg will call if the guy shows up, but she doesn't think he will.  "I think I'm 70, in my 70s, and I'm not a person you'd like to peep on,” says Helweg.

One neighbor, who didn't want to go on camera, says if the peeping tom shows up in his yard he's going to shoot him.
