MAUMELLE, AR – Police have released a statement saying no charges are anticipated against former boxing champion Jermain Taylor in connection to a May 18th incident at a hotel.

From the Maumelle Police Department:

“Regarding the investigation of the events of May 18th involving Jermain Taylor, the Maumelle Police Department does not anticipate any additional criminal charges. This preliminary decision is base on the interviews of all involved parties and physical evidence collected during the investigation.”

It's unclear, what if anything, took place at the America's Best Value Inn in Maumelle on May 18th between Taylor and a woman who claims to be from Mississippi.

Lt. Jim Hansard with the Maumelle Police Department says Taylor agreed to come into the department for an interview that lasted approximately one hour Wednesday morning.

"He was very cooperative and seemed to be forthright with us, very open," Hansard says.   "I can't disclose exactly what was said in the interview but the investigators came out of it with the inkling that we're probably not going to have any additional charges in this case."

Hansard said the department also does not anticipate filing a false report charge against the woman, but would not disclose any details.  The police will also not release the identity of the woman until the investigation is complete.

He was a fine champ. He stayed to long at the party. He was a fine rep for the state. He is still embarrassed though. OH! I'm white and very proud of a young man that took it to the limit. He need not ruin that now like so many others have that traveled that road. I do like to joke a little though. At my age it may be all I have left.

jermaine stay out of this kind of crap!!! these people in your so called hometown were more than happy to see you in trouble. you see what kind of people you represented as a champion, people that are happy to see you lose in the ring and in life. you owe arkansas nothing you owe yourself everything. this was stupid and im sure you know it. im not a boxing fan but i am a fan of reaching for goals and you are a success story in arkansas. you have a fan base. get it together!

After thinking about this I agree. He is probably already embarrassed enough that he is having to call in girls from out of state at 2000 dollars a throw.
